Jazz dance encompasses many forms of modern dancing styles and embodies the popular music of any given time from the 1930’s to modern day. We teach and explore such styles as Jazz, musical theatre, street dance and other contemporary styles.
While Jazz allows for much freedom of movement, the technique and discipline required is as much demanding as Ballet and we therefore help our students to learn this vocabulary in order to be able to perform with confidence across different styles and choreographies.
We welcome all children from the age of 5 years old onwards and do not require any previous formal dance training. Our teachers are highly experienced in the genre and make use of elements of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) syllabi though our teaching is not prescriptive and covers all forms of Jazz dance styles.
Our Jazz classes are hugely fun and popular and many at some stage study both Ballet and Jazz to get first hand experience in a different dance form.
